Oh Rock of Samos
whence I plunged
past fear and other barriers,
squids and unseen menaces;
hold fast!
I exist only to see you again.
To tear my feet on your sharp edges.
To emerge from the sea clinging confidently
to your stone breasts;
carefully dodging the sea urchins and others
who depend on you for their survival.
